Privacy Notice

This blog is run by me, Sofia Carroll, and hosted on Squarespace.

The website collects the minimal personal data required:

• Access logs: Squarespace may collect technical information, such as IP address and browser type, for security purposes. This data is not used by me to identify users.

• Contact details: If you contact me directly via email or a form, I will only use the information you provide to respond to your message.

• Email sign-up: If you choose to subscribe to updates, your email address will be used solely for that purpose and you can unsubscribe at any time.

The lawful basis for collection are:

• Consent — for email subscriptions and some cookies;

• Legitimate interest — to respond to enquiries or ensure the site functions securely.

This site uses analytics cookies (e.g. for traffic insights) which show me anonymised information about what people read. It may also collect advertising cookies.

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data. You can also complain to me if you’re unhappy with how your data has been used and then the Information Commissioner’s Office if you’re still unsatisfied.

Squarespace’s HQ is in the USA and some information may be transferred there. Their Privacy Policy lists the accepted transfer mechanisms for this. For website operators outside of the USA, Squarespace Ireland Limited is the controller for the relevant personal data.

I may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. It was last updated in June 2026 (v2).
